Manchester United Set to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year left on her deal, has been a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. Her arrival is viewed as a major coup for the WSL team.
Her exit from Bayern was expected since she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the club's supporters following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Consistent Goalscoring to Strengthen United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival should represent a major boost to United’s attacking options. Schüller has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club seem to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent performances include securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.
In the transfer market, the winter break has brought additional activity:
- The acquisition of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
